Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
Bakers Dozen formed in the summer of 1995 but as we all
played in other bands we never did much until about 1999. The line up at
present is Craig on drums, Gary on bass, Stuart on guitar and myself on guitar
and vocals.
Discography.
So far we've recorded an ep which should be out very soon
on Screwed Up Records. Its called 'Ripe For Violence!' In June we start recording
our debut cd for Pure Impact Records! its gonna be called 'Rest Assured'
and should be out later in the year.
What is the best gig Bakers Dozen have ever done and who else was on the line-up?
We did a cracker in Belgium last year! it was at the De
Kastelien pub in Brugges. From the minute we arrived the beer was flowing
and the gig was jumping a good time was had by all.The gig in Northfleet
was a cracker as well! Everything just clicked that night and the fact that
we had our mate Gogs standing in on guitar with only a few practices behind
him was an achievment in itself.
Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?
Craig and myself both used to play in a punk band called
Beergut 100 who sadly are no more due to band differences.Gary plays in a
punk band called Overspill who have been kicking about for a couple of years
now and Stuart plays drums in a band who have been around forever called
Sad Society.
What is the first record each member of the band ever bought?
I cant speak for the rest of the lads on this one as the're
not here but Ipropably bought something metal! cant remember what but propably
a metal lp or single. I'm still a big rock/metal fan today.
Do you do any covers in your live set, if so what?
We've done a few covers over the last couple of years Rapist
(Combat 84), Oi, Oi, Oi (Cockney Rejects), Real Enemy (The Business) but
the two that remain in our set today are Unstoppable Force (Condemned 84)
and Evil (4 Skins)! they always seem to get the crowd going. If i remember
rightly when we played in Belgium we did Evil 3 times that night.
Do you think street music will rise again in the UK and what is the scene like
in your area?
Street music has risen like i never thought it would! i
thought it was too scary for most people. The Darren Russell gigs have definately
played a big part as has big name bands name dropping there influences in
interviews. There used to be a really good scene in Edinburgh about 5 years
ago but sadly theres as good as fuck all now.
What bands would you recommend checking out?
Bands worth checking out are my good friends Bombskare from
Edinburgh who must be one of the best ska bands around today also garys band
Overspill are very good! just now i'm listening to Crusade, Retaliator, On
file and Les villains.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 2001.
In the coming months we've got a gig in Dundee with The
Fake Patriots,The Eddies, and The Swellbellies! thats on the 20th of April
at the West Port Bar.We'll be playing at Holidays In The Sun and will also
see our ep out very soon.
