Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
Electric Frankenstein started 10 years ago to give a jolt
to the music scene and revive rock n roll again. Within a year of getting
together we toured all over the US and Europe and built a large worldwide
following. We put out records on many labels in many countries to get a lot
of people
to know about us and to feed the high demand for our music.
Current line-up is: Steve Miller - vocals, Sal Canzonieri -guitar, Dan Canzonieri
- bass, Rob Sefcik - drums, and Carl Porcaro - lead guitar.
Discography.
Our new album "The Buzz of a 1,000 Volts!" is
out on September 11th. Before that we released "Don't Touch Me, I'm
Electric" on TSB Records (UK version)/"Annie's Grave on Victory
(USA Version). Before that one we released "How to Make a Monster" on
Victory in 1999. Also, we released two records in 2000 for the UK only on
TSB records, they are: "Live, Loud & Angry" and "Sod the
Odds". From 1995 to 1998 we released these albums : "EF Conquers
the World", "The Time is Now", "Sick Songs", Spare
Parts", "Rock N Roll Monster". The rest of our discography
can be seen at: www.electricfrankenstein.com
Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?
Yes, Steve was in the Crash Street Kids and Cherry 13.
I (Sal) was in The Thing and The Doom Patrol. Dan was in Empire Hideous,
Shadow Project/Christian Death, Rob was in Mind's Eye, Uppercut, and Fur.
Carl was in Killing Time and Skin Kandy.
If you were writing a review about Electric Frankenstein how
would you describe the band?
Pure High Energy Rock N Roll that makes you exciting and
energizes your batteries to keep on rocking! EF combines the best things
about Punk and Hard Rock together to create a new style of Rock N Roll that
is powerful and still melodic.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you whilst
touring?
We went out the back door after a show and it was on a
hill and it was raining. We all slipped down the hill with our instruments
and landed in a pile of mud and got ourselves and instruments covered in
mud! Of course this happened in the UK, in Redditch.
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
I don't know what the favorite songs or for the other people
in the band. I can list favorite bands. Dan's is Social Distortion and Johnny
Cash. Steve is Aerosmith. Sal's is AC/DC, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Stooges,
Germs. Carl and Rob, I don't know.
Do you go and see other bands when they play in your area?
If so, what was the last band you saw, and were they any good?
Last band I saw was last night in NYC, it was Rick Blaze
and the Ballbusters from Boston area and Loose from Italy. They were both
really greate. Rick Blaze and Ballbusters were real straight ahead rock n
roll in the vein of NY Dolls. Johnny Thunders. Loose was in the vein of Stooges,
MC5, and also like Australian bands like Radio Birdman, Celibate Rifles,
etc.,
What is the music scene like in your area?
It sucks! NYC is long dead, there are only really small
places for beginner bands to play in and reallt big places for arena bands
to play in and nothing in between. Also, people are real assholes in NY and
really jaded and only see bands because they are trendy. There is a small
die hard
group that loves real rock n roll and they are great people, the rest are all
phonies.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 2001.
We have the new album out Sept 11th, we are touring in
the US right after and then we tour Europe from end of Sept to end of Oct.
Then when we get back we plan on doing more shows in the US, like California,
etc.
Any final comments?
Support real rock n roll! Punk Rock is part of the History
