Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
Danny - W.O.R.M. formed in 1992. The line up was Danny,
Mark, Rob & Brian. We did a couple of crappy demos and little else. In 1993
the line up changed to Danny, Mark & Tony. We did a couple of singles and
started getting our act together with proper gigs. By 1994 Tony left to go
to university and was replaced by Carl. In 1996 we started S.I.D. Records,
and would go on to release two W.O.R.M. albums, one EP, compilation albums
and start putting stuff out by other bands. After the release of our first
album we went on full attack with tours and gigs which averaged three per
week (And still do today). Year 2000, and we've just been joined by an extra
guitarist who will be gigging with us soon and we're currently working on
our new album. The line up is now - Danny-Bass/vocals, Carl-Guitar/vocals,
Andy-Guitar & Mark-Drums.

Does the initials W.O.R.M. stand for anything, if not Why
did you choose the name?
Danny - No, it doesn't really mean anything. It was our
original lead guitarist who wanted to do it like that back in '92. Not sure
why. It has been said that it stands for Wank Orientated Rock Music, or Wank
Over Richard Madely. Anybody got any better ones? The reason we got our name
is that we used to do a song called Worm and we were looking for a name at
the time. Unfortunately, that was the best we could come up with. I wish
we'd chosen a comedy punk name.
Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?
Danny - Not ones known for doing anything. I used to play
drums for a band from Sheffield called Dog Soldier who's claim to fame was
supporting Conflict & Napalm Death. I was also in a band with Jon who later
went on to form Pitch Shifter but we didn't really do much.
Mark - I used to be in a band called Resurgence many moons ago, We drank, we
played, we were crap,
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
Danny - Anything off Screeching Weasel's My Brain Hurts
album.
Mark - I have so many favourite songs, because I have been listening to this
punk rock shit for far to long, So it could be a choice of these White man in
Hammersmith palais (The Clash) No room for you (Demob) and Suffer (Bad Religion)
This is a great album, and opened up to me a whole new style of punk in the way
it was played.
Danny - Carl tells me that his fave song is "Don't Call Me White" by NOFX,
and another by Desmond Decker. The title of which I can't think of.
What was the last band you saw and were they any good?
Danny - I can't remember the last gig I payed to get in.
It might have been Bouncing Souls. They were great. Oh yeah, I've seen Ex
Cathedra recently. They're such a great band.
Mark - I take it by this you mean the last time I went to see a band rather
than actually playing with a band. The last band I saw was Joe Ninety in Sheffield,
and they were great
Describe punk at the beginning of the 21st century.
Danny - The punk scene is looking great at the moment.
I just wish people wouldn't dismiss certain genres such as pop punk, skate
punk, ska punk, hardcore etc. It's all punk to me.
Mark - The scene as a whole does seem to be good at the moment, I would like
it to pull together a bit more though, and for people to take an interest in
all the styles rather than one particular style. I think as an example, the Hardcore
scene has become very much a closed shop, and in a way does seem to be creating
it's own scene. there does need to be more mixed gigs. ie ska punk/ hard core/
pop punk playing together. because at the end of the day, whatever style we play
it is all punk. Right kids !!!!
Do all the band members do other jobs as well as being in
the band? If so, what?
Danny - I work at a factory in the daytime, making shit
for British Steel. In the evenings, I work for S.I.D. Records.
Mark - I am a house husband, and have 2 kids to look after, and could someone
pass me the prozac please. I along with danny also spen all my spare time, and
not spare time running S.I.D. Records.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 2000.
Danny - Loads of gigs coming up. They're always advertised
on this fantastic site. As for releases, I mentioned earlier that we're working
on our third album titled "Vertically Unchalleged Baby" which should be in
the shops for Christmas.
