Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
The oriogional band started back in the age of steam amps
and gas tuners, released 2 ep on a local label in the early eighties. Signed
to EMI and released 2 albums, then I left to for 'Ligotug'.
This is a compleatly new band apart from me. The line-up is;-
Guitar - Paul 'Lumy' Rooney
Bass - Mike 'Silk Mildred' Giaquinto
Drums - Tone 'Noisy' Piper
Discography.
Albums:
Get A Life
Rsurection
Lofi Life
Stand Strong, Stand Proud
No Cause For Concern
There are other bootleg albums, and albums of dodgy demos out there, but I
don't count these as they were either released without my blessing, or I didn't
get paid any royalties for them! We don't make records to make money (we'd
have packed it in agian if that had been the case), but neither do we make
them to be ripped off by record companies!
EPs:
Last Rockers
Resurrection
Out Of Reach
Stand Stong
State Of The Nation
...... and the latest one 'Lavender Hill Mob' - on French label 'Combat Rock'.
Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?
Paul and I played in the Bombshells and also in an ill-fated
due known as 'Sausage & Chips' - we were so loud that noone would rebook
us. Mildred was in 'The Village People', no, only joking. It was 'Imagination'.
Tone played in loads of bands, but I can't remember the names. One was 'The
Milking Papas Oompah Band'.
When you tour abroad, what is the reaction like and how did
the audience differ to UK audiences?
They like us abroad. Tee hee - - but seriously, wev'e
done some great gigs here too, Camden Underworld, Holidays In The Sun and
Holidays In The Smoke. The American's seem to go madder then any other crowd,
apart Barcelons and Llubijiana.
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
Mine is still probably still 'Complete Control' by The
Clash, but it is very hard to have just one favourite song.
Mildred's is 'Time For Action', by Secret Affair (send letters of complaint
to the usual address).
I don't know what Tone's is, but it will be somethng with impossible drums
and mystery paradiddle superimposed sevens.
Lumpy's are too numerous to say, but 'God only knows' - Beach Boys, 'Elanor
Rigby' - Beatles and 'Guns In Brixton' - The Clash rank in the top 10.
What is the Punk/Oi scene like in your area?
There isn't a scene in my area, only techno, techno, techno.
but sometimes we hijack the sound system in our local pub and have a punk,
glam and metal night, but then it is back to techno. Mildred tells me there
is a cery interesting oi! skinhead scene at his local 'The Vauxhall Tavern'.
What question would you like to be asked in interviews, but
you are never asked? And what is your answer?
I think mine would be "What ar you having?"
Mildred's is "Do you swallow?"
Tone's is Would you like to play your drums very loudly for 3-hours nonstop?"
Lump's is "Don't know, can I phone a friend" - rgerirucal ones are
the best.
Do all the band members do other jobs as well as being in the band? If so,
what?
Sadly the money in punk is virtually non-existant, except
for most agents, promoters and record companies. We all have to fo other
things to earn a living (a pathetic one in my case). Lump teaches guitar,
Mildred works in a music shop, Tone sprays motors and plays in another band,
I play in an all girl band.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 2000 and 2001?
Well 200 in nearly over thanks to us taking over 2 month
to answer these questions, so I'd better tel youwhat we hope to be doing
in 2001 ..........
We've got a gig with teh Vibrators at teh Camden Underworld on February 10th.
Some dates in Ireleand in April, USA again in late spring, and I'm making another
solo album too. o quite a lot it it all comes off. We're also already booked
for 'Holidays In The Sun 2001'.
