Do you think oi bands on the continent have a different sound
to British Oi bands? Explain.
I think that Belgian Oi Bands even an Oi band from Holland
are related to the British Oi sound while German and French Oi bands have
more a sound of their own. When you here a lot of new Oi bands I come to
the conclusion that a lot of these bands and specially the American band
have more a sound that is very much related to the hardcore scene.
What are the main themes in the lyrics?
The lyrics in our songs are practically about everything
you can imagine. We have songs about social problems, working class spirit
and when we are out off inspiration we start about women and booze. Anyway
our lyrics are not always that serious because having a lot off fun is one
off the main themes in our band.
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
Steve : This is my world (The Crack)
Berca : Should have known better (The Business)
Chris : Our House (Madness)
Patrick : Skinhead girl (Bad Manners)
What is the best gig The Pride have ever done and who else
was on the line-up?
The best gig we've ever done was in Dresden ( East Germany)
together with Section 5. There were about 800 people who all went crazy during
the gig when both bands played. Seeing about 400 people doing the pogo was
an amazing sight.
What is the Punk/Oi scene like in your area?
I think the scene in Belgium is OK Sometimes there are
riots because of a little group of Antwerp that are making a sport out of
it to mess up gigs because of political bullshit and blaming skinheads to
be nazi's. For the rest we have a very tight scene where everybody knows
each other and that always results in big parities with lots of fun and beer
beer beer...
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 99.
We just released our new album Life After on Hit records
and in March we are going on tour in Europe. We're also asked to play in
Ostend for Darren Russels Holiday in the Sun in May.
Any final comments?
Thanks you for your interest for the band and to all who
stood by us in the past and present Cheers.
