Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
One Way System began life in Fleetwood, a small fishing
town on the North West Coast. Teh then ever chages in the lineup settled
down and became Gavin Whyte vocals, Dave Ross guitar, Craig Halluday guitar,
Gaz Buckley bass and Tommy Couch drums. Craig left around 1982 to persue
other interests. We assulted the workd with our noize until 85/86, when things
came quiet for us. We then picked up the bits around 1994 and evolved into
the present line up...
Lee Havok - vocals
Andy Wilkinson - bass
Dave Ross - guitar
Tommy Couch - drums
Why did you choose the name One Way System?
We chose the name One Ways System becuase it meant a few
different things at the time;-
The Government thinking our apporoach to music and of course the new traffic
system in Blackpool.
What is the best gig One Way System have ever done and who
else was on the line-up?
Personally there are so many great gigs to choose from,
so I tend to look forward to the next one on the horizon - get to meet some
new friends, eh!
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
Favourite songs, well - Andy's would have to be the 'Birdy
Song' as he is as elegant as that song on stage!!! Dave's would be 'Winona's
Big Brown Brown Beaver' Primus, becuase that rythme reminds me of Dave. Lee
- 'YMCA', Village People for obvious reasons!!! Me (Tommy) 'Superman', Lori
Anderson (Here Comes The Plane).
Do you still go and see other punk/oi bands when they play
in your area? If so, what was the last band you saw and were they any good?
Yes, I still go and see bands as mush as I can. This usually
entails traveling, but recently I've seen Pink Torpedoes, UK Subs are the
Drivein. Cusak (local band) and X Ray Cement - the best band I have ever
seen.
What is the best sentence you have ever heard, that someone
has managed to get into a song's lyrics?
That will be The Ruts, with....
"It's a very small world, in the middle of a crowd"
.... from Staring At The Rude Boys
Do you think punk/street music will rise again?
It will be there always and at different levels, depending
on indervidual opinion.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 2001.
We toured Europe in March, and plan to tour the US June/July,
and the UK inbetween. There will be a new CD sometime this year, plus whatever
else gets pencilled in
Any final comments?
Yeah, take care - and where did I put that dictonary!
