Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up.
Headcase origionally started in '86, but due to lack of
comitment by some band members we called it a day. In '93 Face (our drummer)
asked me to start a band again - and so we did. On guitar cam Kris and on
bass Christophe (who plays with the Pride). We played a mixture of rock/metal
with Oi! and punk influneces. We recorded a live and studio demo and played
quite a few gigs. However, not happy with our own sound we decided to reform
'Headcase' in '96. On second guitar, came origional guitarist 'Henk'. This
line-up recorded our first mini CD 'Stil Fighting'. after a few gigs Henk
and Christophe left. Henk wasn't replaced, so we're now a 4 peice. We had
several bass players. But finally this summer 'Chuck' joined us and we were
complete.
Nick - Vocals
Kris - Guitar
Face - Drums
Chuck - Bass
Discogrpahy.
On 'Pure Impact' we released our mini CD 'Still Fighting'
in '97, and our brand new full CD 'Coming Home'. We also recorded a track
for 'Sick Mind Records' (Holland) for a compiliation due out this summer.
2 of our old tracks will also be featured on an 'Durango' '99 compilation.
Describe your sound.
It is always had to do that, but I suppose you could call
it 'hitting oi!'. Some songs are pure oi!, others a bit harder. The spirit
of 'Carry On Oi!', having a laugh and having a joy.
Have you played any gigs out of Belgium, if so, what was
the reaction like and how did the audiance differ to Belgium audiances?
Yes, we've played in Holland (several times), Ausria and
England. When we play Belgium we usually get people from outside Belgium
anyway, so it's pretty much the same. The only thing that sucks is if you
have to open up the eveneing. If you play second or third the crowd's already
warmed up so you get a better reaction.
Do you do any covers in your live set, if so what?
We are not really a cover band, but we have noticed if
you play a couple of covers the crowd respond a lot better. so far we have
only played 2 - 'Evil' by the 4-Skins and 'Hurry Up Harry', by Sham 69. We
are planning to do a Business track in the near future.
What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each
member of the band?
Nick: Business - Product
Kris: Iron Maiden - Face of the Dark
Face: Crashed Out - This is Our Music
Chuck: Stray Cats - Rumble in Brighton
If you could see any band play live, either of the past or
present who would it be?
'Madness' in a venue like I did back in '82. The Finsbury
Park gigs were great, but the atmosphere in a venue should be magic.
What is the Punk/Oi scene like in your area?
The punk scene in our city isn't that big. Hardcore is
very strong, so is Oi!. We even have a skinhead pub in Brugge 'De Kastelein'
- Oi! The Pub. There are quite a few bands; The Pride, Convicted, Les Vilains
(sing in French), Thuggers, Voice of Glory and Headcase. Oi! city.
Plans, gigs and releases planned for 99.
Well we've got a new CD coming out, so hopefully that
should get us some more gigs. There ar plans to play France, Germany, Holland,
Spain and Portugal - but no dates have been confirmed yet. We're also doing
a CD presentaion soon. The 25th May, we're palying at the 'Live & Loud' festival,
with 'On File', 'Anti-Heros' and 'Major Accident'. That's going to be a cracker.
In the summer we've got the songs on the complimation being released. There
are also plans to release a single.
Any final comments?
